In conjunction with the release of the recent EP, I put together a mix featuring music that was very much an influence on the XVI sound, alongside a few more recent, like-minded excursions. As it never got properly released, I thought I’d put it up here for download.
I should point out that large parts of this are lifted from an earlier mix I made called Stories from the Dystopian Border, so if you already heard that, this will be familiar territory. There’s quite a few new additions though, and more of a focus on the electro/techno/house side of things.
Ranging from abstract soundscapes to miserablist electro to deep space techno to jacking robot grooves, from rainy city streets to derelict industrial zones on the off-world colonies of Alpha Centauri, it’s an intense journey through the darker regions of the electronic dance music spectrum. It’s music that harbours a deep nostalgia for the future.

The theory goes further to say that the chosen few who survive will be moved into underground bunkers ahead of the disasters, where they will be provided with stockpiled supplies of necessities such as food and water. These bunkers will provide shelter and the necessities to all of those who reside in them for years.
